Minutes of the General Meeting on February 11, 2010

Meeting was called to order by President Eldon Mecham

Secretary’s report for Board Meeting for February 6, 2010 was read and approved

Instructors Reports:

Lapidary:  Bill McAfee
 121 people used the shop this week
 We are all caught up with our rock cutting

Orientation:  Jim in for Terry McClure 
 15 attended orientation
 
Faceting:  Bob Dodson
 Classes are full

 Saturday Matinee, Opie Van Auken
  Open on Saturday

Wire Wrapping:  Ted Klass
 Purchased some silver and more is coming
 Beginning and open classes had 12 people
 Classes are Wednesday from  6:00 – 9:00 pm
 
Casting and Chain Making:  Terry Paulson
 Casting:   Two openings left fo9r 8:30 am Tuesday
 Chain Making: One new student.  We have more 2 x 4’s than we need.  Cabinets stained and ready   to varnish.  Thank you to the volunteers who helped. 

Silversmith:  Bob Ethridge     No report

Opal:  Paul Sandoval
 Monday classes, three and seven on Wednesday

Carving:  Linda
 Two students left.  Will continue the Silent Auction at pancake breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30 am.

Florescent:  Larry Clark
 Last trip was enjoyable.  This was the last one for this year.

Knapping:  Virgil
 Charlie did the class of five.  More spots available
 Charlie there most days

Bead Making:  Joanne McClure
 Had five people

Beading Around Cabochons:  Bonnie Wright
 Eight in the class 

Committee Report’s

Sunshine:  Betty Williams
 Four cards sent, report to me when cards need to be sent

Wagon Master:  Tom White
 John led the field trip.  65 people
 Need a leader for the March 23rd field trip to Wiley Wells, high clearance vehicles only.

4 Wheel Drive:  Harry Cleveland
 No more room for the Four Peaks trip on February 24th.

Cookouts:  John Larson
 Nice hobo stew.  Every one loved the cook-out.
  Next cook-out will be on March 9th.  We will meet at Celia Gardens. Hamburgers will be    provided.  Bring pot luck, water and chairs.

Pancake Breakfast:  Lynda and Brian
 Next breakfast will be on February 20th.  Tailgaters are welcome and we will continue the silent     auction at that time.

Highway Cleanup:  Gene Lee     No report

Newsletter:  Shirley Nevil
 Need articles by February 20th.
 

Old Business:

 Cliff:  Thank you for the help in the annex.  Drainage in, Bathroom in and working.  Bought slot    sink for the corner.  
  Colin Goetz donated rocks for cutting and for the silent auction.  
  Three mining claims are due, need info on how to take care of the renewal of the claims.
  Thank you to Harry Cleveland who worked on the scholarships with the schools.
  We have one bid on the plastering, need two more.
  Requested a raise in shop fees from $2.50 to $3.00.  
  Suggestion:  Raise shop fees but not membership fees.

 Cal: We need to research where the fees need to be raised.  The building funds will be      exhausted when the annex is finished.
  We will solicit donations from the corporate world.

 Joe: Need opal machine to be plumbed so we need another plumber.  
  Need the florescent lights to be installed. Two volunteers for Friday. 
  Need more aprons. 

New Business:  Will award Lifetime Memberships in March.
  Need three volunteers for a by-laws committee.

Announcements:
 Lloyd:  Has been a member of this club for twenty years and has much history.  Club has largest    and best faceting in the US.  Bob and Opie are the best faceting instructors in the US.  The   club’s tailgaters were the first venders.  Lloyd will not be coming back.
 
Roadrunner Store:  
 Sold one T-shirt, one hat, three name badges and a patch.  We have a nice variety at the store.

Membership:
 15 new members and 8 renewals for a total of 845 members in this club.

Attendance:  105 today.
 182 use the club facilities this week.

Meeting was adjourned at  3:15_PM Coffee and Cookies available in the Dinning Room.
