earth science and to protect our natural resources. Established in the
1960's with members from all 50 states, and many foreign countries.

Quartzsite Roadrunner Gem & Mineral Club General
Meeting
March 20th 2008
The meeting was called to order by Club President Tom White at 2:00
PM.
Roll call competed with 4 officers present and 3 absent (Stiglich,
Cleveland, and Bradley)
Moment of silence for our troops and the Flag Salute were led by Tom.
Club Members greeted one another and Tom recognized and welcomed Guest
and Visitors.
Secretary’s Report was read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report will be given next week.
Instructor’s Report’s:
Lapidary-Joe said 86 used the shop. Saw Shop is now closed until
fall. Joe requested at least one volunteer each day to wet down Club
Parking lot. He also needs 6 people to help finish the Fire House
Roof at 7:00 AM on both Friday and Saturday. Please turn in your
keys. Shop Clean up will be Saturday March 29th at 9:00 AM.
A Pot Luck lunch will follow clean up around 11:00 am for those who help
with clean up.
Beginning Faceting-Bob reported classes are finished until fall.
Intermediate Faceting-Opie had 3 in intermediate, 0 in intro, 5 in
open, and 10 at the Saturday Matinee. Classed are finished until
fall.
Wire Wrapping-Ted had 3 people in Intermediate. Classes are now
finished until fall
Silversmith Shop: Joe said Silver Shop will be open on Friday March
21st in afternoon. If there is enough interest the shop will also
be open next week on Monday and Tuesday mornings.
Casting-Terry said he had 2 in casting and 2 in wax work. After
Monday and Tuesdays classes there will be no further class until fall.
Opal-Paul: No report
Carving-Linda had 4 in class and next Monday is last class until fall.
Knapping-Virgil said there was no class this week and next Wednesday
is last class.
Committee Report’s:
Sunshine-Iola No card were sent out but let her know if someone
needs a card.
Wagon Master- Alva’s Tuesday trip to Earp for Purple/Jasper Agate had
15 cars, 31 people, 10 states, and 1 province represented. Next Tuesday
trip will be lead by Tom White and will go to Plamosa Road for Green Banded
Rhyolite. They will leave at 9:00 AM from the North location.
Pancake Breakfast Pat reported 138 attended the breakfast with income
of $372.39 expenses of $188.44 for a profit of $183.95. The total
profit for all Breakfasts this season was $ 1,015.78.
Roadrunner Store: No sales
Old Business:
Tom requested names be given to him of any members who have passed
away in the last 4 years. Names will be placed on Club’s Memorial
plaque outside of the shop.
Corrections to Faceting Machine Modifications agreement were completed
and Machines are on their way to Colorado.
Tom requested all keys and Petty Cash Banks be turned in immediately.
Tom still needs Committee chairs please see him if you are willing to
Chair one of the open committees.
New Business:
Terry Paulsen has drawn up a possible use plan for the new space we
will have in the Old Fire House. Please give him input for
options with the design to allow us to get started on the space renovation.
Next Board Meeting is March 29th following Shop Clean up.
A Golf Tournament and Cook Out was discussed as a fund raiser for the
fall and will be explored further by Terry Paulsen and Bob Dodson.
Tom suggested an aluminum can collection Fund Raiser which will be also
be considered in the fall.
Tom awarded Lifetime Memberships to Bob Dodson, Joe Petrowski, and Dora
Roberts. Dora will receive her award next fall. Each was thanked
for the work they have done for the Club.
Announcements:
Next weeks General Meeting will be held in Dinning Room as the QIA
will be polishing the floor in the large room.

Attendance 53 attended the meeting.
Door Prizes were awarded by Tom.
